Ian Clarke

Scott McLaughlin

Position: Solicitor / Director

Scott McLaughlin has been involved in Criminal Law since starting working at Aldridge & Brownlee in 2006.  

Over the course of 16 years, Scott has dealt with every type of criminal case imaginable, ranging all the way up to the most serious type of cases.  

He completed his training contract at a busy practice in Central London, Punatars & Co.  Scott was acting as one of the duty solicitors for the police station on the night of the London riots.  

Prior to working at Murray’s, Scott was a self-employed police station representative.  He has worked at Murray’s Solicitors for over 10 years.

Elisha Canning

Position: Solicitor / Director

Elisha is an experienced criminal law legal representative who has worked in the legal services industry for over 18 years. Elisha specialises in Criminal Law providing legal advice to clients at police stations, hospitals, and in court. Experienced in working with clients with Mental Health issues. Elisha is a strong believer that everyone is entitled to good defence and vigorously defends clients who have special needs. Every day Elisha Attends to clients, prepares cases for tribunals, makes appeal applications, and cross-examines witnesses.

Elisha is passionate about criminal defence and enjoys the ever-changing nature of criminal law. Her sympathetic demeanour and ability to fight the corner of vulnerable adults means she is instructed regularly to defend clients with special needs.

Elisha is a strong legal professional with a master’s degree in legal Practice from The University of Huddersfield. She has completed her electives in Family Law, Employment and Mental Health and has a degree in business and law from the University of Bradford and a further graduate diploma in law from the University of Huddersfield.

Position: Consultant

Ian has worked in the legal profession since 1989. Prior to that Ian was a member of the Armed Forces, often serving in politically volatile situations. Ian has been with Murray’s solicitors since 2005 when the company was formed.

Ian specialises in complex crime and is usually the first person to see clients when they are at the Police Station. His experience representing and advising clients at Police Stations is second to none. With over 30 years experience Ian has been instructed in 42 murder investigations and 4 terrorist cases.

Ian is a down to earth individual with great communication skills. Ian excels in dealing with complex cases, where attention to detail has resulted in successful defences and acquittals before the jury.

Siama Rafiq

Position: Solicitor

Siama obtained a law degree from the University of Huddersfield University followed by 2 years part time legal practice course.

She is a very experienced lawyer with over 21 years’ experience in complex crime specialising in representing defendants charged with drugs conspiracies, sexual exploitation, rape, murder and historic sexual abuse cases. She is a fully qualified solicitor who holds both the Police Station Accreditation and Magistrates Court Qualifications enabling her to act as duty solicitor.

Siama has vast experience working with multiple prestigious criminal law firms both as an employee and as a consultant and has worked on many high-profile cases where she has an exemplary record in achieving successful outcomes.

She is a ferocious and meticulous advocate who enjoys a challenge and also has over 4 years’ experience in personal injury claims, a background in immigration law and experience in childcare law.
